Description
Gullfoss falls is part of the Hvítá (White River). The Hvítá is a glacier river, but it is also fed by rain. It can carry large quantities of water; 50 to 110 ㎥/s in winter and 100 to 180 ㎥/s in summer. The water falls 32 meters in 2 stages into a gorge. The gorge is more than 70 meters deep, 20 meters wide and 2,5 km long. On this photo you see the first of the two stages.
